Arena — the ladder from lesson to accepted work

The rungs between finishing a lesson and doing work somebody else accepted: challenges, open-source contributions and bounties.

  • See the whole ladder at once — where you stand, what opens next, and what it costs
  • Every rung says plainly what it does not establish, so a badge never over-claims
  • Challenges are scored against real work rather than against time spent
  • Your standing comes from your own attempts, not from hours logged

The gap this closes

Finishing a lesson and doing work someone else accepted are a long way apart. Arena is the ladder between them, rendered as a ladder: where you stand now, what opens next, and what each rung costs.

Every rung tells you what it does not prove

That is a rule, not a courtesy. A published challenge carries a required honest note naming what a pass does not establish, and so does every track landing page. A rung that cannot say that does not ship.

Rungs that are not built say so

Several rungs belong to later milestones and are labelled in as many words. This is deliberate: a page that shows five live rungs when one exists is a page that sends you at a door that does not open.

Time never counts

Standing comes from attempts that were evaluated. Hours in the product, commits made and lines written earn nothing on their own — the same rule that governs every point, badge and unlock on the platform.

Frequently asked

Why do some rungs say they are not built yet?

Because they are not. A ladder that renders five live rungs when one exists sends you to aim at a painted door, so unbuilt rungs are labelled rather than hidden or faked.

Does spending time in Arena raise my standing?

No. Every point, badge and unlock across the platform is a receipt for a passed evaluation, never for time spent. Hours and attempts do not move a leaderboard on their own.

What is the honest note on each track?

A required line saying what that rung does NOT establish. It is a rule of the product, not a disclaimer someone remembered to add — a published challenge cannot ship without one.

How does Arena relate to Studio?

Studio is the surface you do the work on; Arena is the ladder that work counts towards.
