Digitising scanned records, including Indian-language and handwritten pages
A bound register, a photographed identity document, a supplier's faxed challan: recognition converts the page into text plus a layout, so later steps can read fields instead of a clerk retyping them. Per-field confidence decides which pages continue automatically and which go to manual keying.

Tools named for this
- A hosted recognition service that returns text with layout co-ordinates
- A recognition-free document understanding model for a fixed, high-volume layout
- A confidence threshold that routes weak pages to manual keying instead of onward
What to check before you ship it in India
- Scanned identity and personnel documents sent to a hosted recognition service make that operator a processor acting on your behalf, which section 8(2) permits only under a valid contract. Check also where the images are retained after the call returns, because that copy is yours to account for.
- Errors propagate rather than surface. A downstream extraction step cannot recover a field the recognition stage never read correctly, and the same research names inflexibility across languages and document types as a standing weakness of these pipelines.
