Warning that a machine is heading for failure before the line stops

Reads the vibration, temperature, current and cycle-count streams an asset already emits, compares the recent window against how that same asset behaved when it was healthy, and opens a maintenance ticket with the offending window attached — so a bearing is changed in a planned slot rather than in the middle of a shift.

Tools named for this

  • A historian or time-series store keeping the sensor channels at their original sampling rate
  • A degradation or novelty model fitted per asset class, not one global threshold
  • A work-order system the alert opens a ticket in, carrying the window of data that triggered it

What to check before you ship it in India

  • Machine telemetry is not personal data, but the shop-floor record it joins to usually carries an operator or shift identifier. The moment an alert is likely to be used to make a decision that affects that named operator rather than about the asset, section 8(3) applies and the fiduciary must ensure the underlying personal data is complete, accurate and consistent — a duty a maintenance model was never built to discharge.
  • A model fitted to an asset's own healthy history has by construction never seen the failure mode that has not yet happened on that machine, and the run-to-failure examples it could have learned from are precisely the ones a competent maintenance team already prevented.
