Reading an employee expense receipt into a claim line

Pulls merchant, date, total and tax off a photographed or scanned receipt, fills the claim line, and holds back the ones that fail a policy test — a duplicate image, a missing supplier GSTIN where credit is being claimed, a date outside the approved travel window — for a human approver to settle before the payment run.

What to check before you ship it in India

  • A claim is personal data about an identified employee and the output drives a decision that affects them. Section 8(3) requires the Data Fiduciary to ensure such data is complete, accurate and consistent before it is used that way, which puts the burden of a misread total on the employer, not the model.
  • Thermal receipts fade. A meal claimed three weeks late can be unreadable to the extractor and to the approver it escalates to, and neither can tell whether the fault was capture or age.
